The emerging bio-diesel industry is facing acute problem of feedback supplies. The greatest challenge is to develop dedicated energy crops that are cost effective, easy to sustain and can produce greater yields. Jatropha is well identified, extensively experimented and widely accepted as one of the most important energy crops that produce bio-diesel and hold particular promise for sustainable inclusive socio-economic development and environment protection. In recent years, the Center and State Governments have shown a major interest in Jatropha plantation. There have been socio-economic and political pressures to promote energy creops, in particular Jatropha Curcas, for economic empowerment, socio upliftment and poverty alleviation of the disadvantaged rural communities. Bio-diesel produced from jatropha is one of the most promising solution for tackling the growing carbon emissions from transportation. That is why Planning Commission has nominated Jatropha as ideal plant for bio-diesel.

Jatropha is a valuable multi-purpose crop to alleviate soil degradation, desertification and deforestation. Jatropha oil has many other uses besides being an ideal raw material for bio diesel production.

Product Application

Jatropha Oil as straight vegetable oil(SVO) is commonly used as fuel for "off the road" applications such as stationary diesel engines like pump sets, diesel generators and other agricultural implements etc.

Up to 20% blends of Bio-diesel with Petro-diesel can be used for all "on the road" applications - automobiles, railways, waterways etc.
